Quadruplet premature infants from Gaza were discharged from the Barzilai Medical Center

Two months ago, this 30 weeks pregnant woman with quadruplet from Gaza was admitted to the Obstetrics department at the Barzilai Medical Center for observation and medical treatment. Cesarean section was performed a month ago and 4 healthy babies were born. The most senior gynecologists and a staff of 4 NICU nurses and physicians took care of these premature newborns. Their body weight was quite good and they did not need any intensive treatment. All 4 babies remained for further observation in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit until they reached a reasonable weight to be discharged home.

The Barzilai Medical Center transported the mother and her four newly born babies to the Erez border and a Palestinian ambulance transported them to their home in Gaza.

This was not the first time that premature babies were treated in the NICU of the Barzilai Medical Center. Premature twins were hospitalized in the NICU during February and March 2008 while Qassam and Grad rockets landed all over Ashkelon and the surrounding cities. Dr. Shmuel Zangan, the head of the NICU, said to the CNN television that the physicians of the NICU leave their political ideas behind and concentrate on the treatment of the babies without any reservations.
