מכתב תודה לפרופ אנטבי

Dear Professor Anteby,

I hope this finds you well.

My sincere apologies that this note is making its way to you so late in the game so-to-speak. I don’t know if you would remember me but sometime last year (around June) I reached out to you prior to our making aliya to Israel inquiring about your gynecology department because at the time I was expecting my fourth child.  I am happy to inform you that I gave birth to our fourth daughter, Aliza, at the Barzilai Medical Center on September 10, 2014 and had the utmost privilege of being cared for by your incredible staff of nurses, midwives and staff at Barzilai's Obstetrics department.  I will tell you that I have given birth to two babies at NYU hospital in Manhattan and one child in the Staten Island Medical University in 2012.  I simply cannot compare the experience of those three births to the one I had at Barzilai.  I am crushed that I cannot remember the first names of two of the midwives that come to mind, but if I would meet them again I would surely know them.  I felt cared for, that I was an individual and not just another case.  The results of the epidural I was given worked 100% as opposed to the previous times when I had received one.  Every step of the way an explanation and information was given to me and the midwives treated me no less than my own mother in law would, with care and individuality - by far the best birth experience I have had yet.  For the first time in my life, I was told by one midwife to situate my lower body to the side, which she helped position me in.  She explained the the baby comes down the birth canal like a “corkscrew”, something I had never been told before.  It was like a miracle, within 20 seconds being in that position the baby came out.

The nurses in the maternity ward were warm and professional.  I am choking up now, almost a full 8 months later thinking about it, because it was such an incredible experience that words simply fail me. I did not know who to address a thank you letter to and figured you would be the best first contact in the meantime.  I want to commend you, and the staff at the Barzilai Medical Center for helping me bring my beautiful baby girl into this world.  We currently live in Mercaz Shapira, not too far from Ashkelon and I drive by often and happy to have such a wonderful hospital so close to our place of residence.

I am taking the liberty of attaching a picture of our Aliza, a fine final product of the Barzilai Medical Center :-)  I am so utterly grateful to all of you and will always remain so.

With warmest regards,

  תודה לפרופ ענתבי וצוות המחלקה
