Heart rehabilitation program and physical activity at Ashkelon beach

Heart rehabilitation program and physical activity at Ashkelon beach

Controlled exercise and lifestyle changes are among the important things in curing patients after acute cardiac events.

Barzilai Medical Center operates rehabilitation program for heart patients based on consultation and monitoring of physician, physiologist and dietician, and is controlled by the Cardiology Complex headed by Prof. Amos Katz.  The program includes controlled exercise in a rich and improved gym and among other activities performing exercise at the beach.

After many delays due to operation "Pillar of Defense" and bad weather cardiac rehabilitation patients gathered together on a Friday morning for joint exercise at Ashkelon
beach.  The activities were guided by the staff
of Rehabilitation Institute
and included a walk along the shore and a variety of fitness exercises of muscles strengthening with hand weights, rubber bands and stair climbing.

In view of the success of the rehabilitation program and the large demand to join it, the regular activity of the program was expanded to four days per week.
