A large-scale chemical warfare attack simulation drill was held at Barzilai Medical Center

Such drill is part of the medical center training program and is and part of preparing the hospital to various warfare scenarios. The drill was conducted by the Home Front Command and the Emergency Division of the Health Ministry. As part of the drill 150 "casualties" played by soldiers and dummies were streamed into the hospital, representing various types of injuries that could possibly result from chemical weapons.   

Many teams of Barzilai Medical Center medical and administrative staff participated in the drill and in addition the drill included the army unit of the Home-Front Command that is an integral part of the medical center during emergencies.
Mayor of Ashkelon, Mr. Itamar Shimoni, visited the hospital during the drill and expressed his great satisfaction with the hospital's level of preparedness. 
The control teams that summed up the drill noted the seriousness and readiness of the hospital in treating casualties in all scenarios.

Dr. Chezy Levy, Hospital Medical Director, noted with satisfaction the ongoing planning process, the professional preparedness and the level of skills and performance in the drill itself and thanked the hospital staff, the controllers and instructors that participated in the drill.
