Due to the current situation in Israel, many post-trauma patients are referred and treated at the psychiatry outpatient clinic.
The staff is also responsible for running the psychiatric daycare unit for follow up of patients released from the psychiatric department, and for further treatments like occupational therapy, working in the therapeutic garden (Greenhouse), electroconvulsive therapy, and other activities.
Electroconvulsive therapy is done under short general anesthesia by a team of psychiatrist, anesthesiologist and a nurse. Cardiac and respiratory monitoring is mandatory during the ECT. After the procedure, the patient remains few hours for further observation before releasing him home or back to the department.
