Surgery of the vertebral column - Vertebroplasty

Patients with disk protrusion, stenosis of the vertebral lumen causing pressure on the spinal cord, fractures of the vertebrae due to osteoporosis or trauma are treated by surgical interventions. Cases of fractures of the vertebrae due to osteoporosis are treated by injection of a balloon and cement to minimize the pain. Moreover, the orthopedic surgeons at the Barzilai medical center are nowadays performing minor invasive surgery of the vertebral column after getting their experience in very high-level well known hospitals outside Israel. Special equipment was supplied to the department for this procedure.
